  Bio - Laurel Lawson
Laurel Lawson brings a business background and an entrepreneurial approach to her commitment to developing enhanced community services.

Laurel joins the Coquitlam Foundation after serving most recently as Dean of Student Services and Director of Housing with the Art Institute of Vancouver where she was a member of the senior management team for this private post-secondary.

She was known in the Tri-Cities for more than a decade of growth-oriented leadership as the administrator of the Coquitlam Learning Opportunity Centre (Coquitlam Continuing Education, S.D. #43).

Prior to coming to Coquitlam, Laurel ran her own consulting business, was Co-ordinator of Community Development programs (S.D. #40 New Westminster), and was Acting Regional Director of the Canadian Co-operative Association (B.C/Yukon region).

Active in community service, Ms. Lawson was elected Treasurer of the Adult Basic Education Association of B.C., served six years elected service on the Board of the Delta Credit Union, supported the creation of the Delta Credit Union Charitable Foundation and business-education partnerships, was involved with the Royal City Education Foundation, served on two Mayor's Task Forces on Youth (Delta and Surrey), and opened a youth centre for the Corporation of Surrey.

Ms. Lawson is a graduate of the University of B.C.

She resides in Coquitlam with her husband and school-age daughter.
