The Coquitlam Foundation offers bursaries and scholarships to Coquitlam residents, and grants to community organizations in the Tri-Cities. The Foundation is proud of its 20-year history of encouraging and supporting a vibrant, healthy and sustainable community.  Our vision for the City of Coquitlam is a community where quality of life is enhanced by residents and organizations creating lasting legacies and building endowment funds that support bursaries, scholarships and community grants.

Since 1992, visionary donors have built the Coquitlam Foundation into a growing endowment that helps local individuals and non-profit organizations meet community needs. Each year, the earnings on these endowment funds are reinvested into the community, with upwards of $50,000 being distributed to community groups and students annually.

THE COQUITLAM FOUNDATION HAS ONE GRANT CYCLE EACH YEAR

1. A call for applications is announced in December each year. 
2. The deadline for bursary, scholarship and grant applications is set for a date in February.
3. Grants are announced at the annual awards ceremony in May or June.

THE 2013 BURSARY, SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANT CYCLE IS NOW OPEN.

Application forms are available below and must be submitted no later than February 15, 2013 at 4 pm.  Successful applicants will be notified in May and will be invited to attend the Coquitlam Foundation Awards Celebration Evening at the Evergreen Cultural Centre on June 4, 2013.

BURSARIES & SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year the Foundation distributes bursaries and scholarships to students who are residents of Coquitlam and who are enrolling in post-secondary studies. 

Note: The bursary and/or scholarship must be claimed within three years or be forfeited.  The application of this time limit is subject to the Foundation's consideration of any extenuating circumstances that may prevent the recipient's claim within the time period.

COMMUNITY GRANTS

The Coquitlam Foundation invests and builds community funds which were given by residents to support specific purposes. Grants are available to registered charities or those partnering with a registered charity for the purposes of this request.

Grants may be considered in the following areas of interest:

• 1. Arts and Culture
• 2. Education and Literacy
• 3. Health and Wellness
• 4. Heritage, Historical or Conservation initiatives
• 5. Environment
• 6. Seniors in need

We encourage grant applicants to contact our office to discuss their proposed project prior to finalizing your submission. This is especially important as the grant amounts available vary by category. We appreciate the time you take to prepare your submission and wish to ensure that you have an overview of the funding opportunities we have for the current year.

Applications that are submitted in any other format or in multiple file formats will not be accepted. You will receive a response within 48 hours indicating receipt of your application. Please contact us at info@coquitlamfoundation.com if your application is not acknowledged within 48 hours of submission.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Coquitlam Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any applications that are incomplete, late in being submitted, illegible and/or do not otherwise follow the submission guidelines.

REVIEW PROCESS

Applications are reviewed by a volunteer, citizen-based committee appointed by the Coquitlam Foundation. Final decisions are ratified by the volunteer Board of Directors of the Coquitlam Foundation. Successful applicants will be notified in May and invited to attend the Coquitlam Foundation Awards Celebration Evening at the Evergreen Cultural Centre on June 4, 2013.
